Alliance Community launches around the country

alliance community launches nationally across Australia

The launch event trail kicked off in Mackay in May 2018 at the Ocean International Hotel, featuring talks from special guests Mayor Greg Williamson and local vision-impaired artist David Conway, along with other members of parliament, local community clients and many of its support workers.

Four further launch events were held in Sydney, the Sunshine Coast, Canberra and Adelaide, playing host to more than 300 guests. Each event brought together our community clients, support workers, key stakeholders and local businesses for an exciting evening of drinks and canapés at venue locations that ranged from overlooking the Sydney skyline to a modern art gallery displaying the ACT’s best artists.

All of the events also featured their own inspiring celebrity guest speakers. Australian DJ Tom ‘Hookie’ Nash, a quadruple amputee due to his contraction of meningococcal septicaemia in 2001, shared his story with attendees at the Sydney event. The Alliance Community launch in Adelaide presented beloved Australian comedian, novelist and playwright Tim Ferguson, who spoke about his lived experience with multiple sclerosis (MS) for over thirty years.

Our guest speakers’ inspirational and engaging stories encouraged attendees at each of the events, whether living with a disability or not, to re-frame their understanding and perception of disability as something that does not define a person’s physical and mental boundaries, but rather makes one unique. Each of the guest speakers also strongly advocated for quality community care, and emphasised the vital role that support workers play within the community.

The events highlighted Alliance Community’s commitment to delivering quality services that empower clients to be in control of their support needs and to “live the life they want,” as well as the innovative approach that the organisation is taking to grow the aged care and disability support workforce.

The launch of the brand was very well received by the media with coverage of the Mackay launch by Channel Seven, featuring an interview with Sue Cudmore, General Manager of Alliance Community Operations. Our Adelaide event also received several mentions on local radio, with MIX FM 101.3 and Cruise 1323 speaking to David Stewart, Director of Recruitment Solutions.
